Central Coast Conference

2026

The 2026 Central Coast Conference will be held May 1-3 in the Stanton Center Theater on Custom House Plaza, Monterey. This year's roster of top-flight scholars includes BROOKS SIMPSON, Professor of History, Arizona State University, GORDON RHEA, Attorney General of the U.S. Virgin Islands, LESLEY GORDON, Professor of History, University of Alabam, LORIEN FOOTE, Professor of History, Texas A&M University, DAVID POWELL, Author and Historian, DEAN CALBREATH, Pulitzer-winning Investigative Journalist, KEVIN LEVIN, Boston-based educator, Author and Historian here.

2025

The 2025 Central Coast Conference will be held May 2-4 in the same location, the Stanton Center Theater on Custom House Plaza, Monterey. A roster of top-flight scholars—William B. Gould IV, Edda L. Fields-Black, Stacey L. Smith, Gordon Rhea, Sasha Biscoe, and Kevin Levin--will deliver presentations under the umbrella of Seldom Heard History. Register for the 2025 event by clicking here. 

2024

The inaugural Central Coast Conference, in March 2024, brought together a stellar lineup of Civil War historians for 2.5 days of intriguing presentations on the theme of 1864 to War's End.
