Jeb Stuart from Brandy Station to Gettysburg
guided battlefield tours
with historian
Chris Army
Tour Dates: July 19–23, 2023
(Leesburg, Virginia)

BUS AND WALKING TOUR: Over 5 days, we'll follow the route of J.E.B. Stuart's Confederate cavalry from the Battle of Brandy Station, to the fighting at Gettysburg's East Cavalry Field. Chris, a Licensed Battlefield Guide at Gettysburg, and a co-founder of Culpeper Battlefield Tours, will lead us to oft-visited as well as hard-to-find locales, beginning with the largest cavalry battle in American history, and culminating with the climactic showdown at Gettysburg.

General Itinerary

July 18, 2023 (Optional evening gathering at our Leesburg, Virginia hotel—location to be announced shortly). Each morning—beginning at 8:15 a.m. on July 19—we'll board the bus at our designated hotel, and return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
DAY ONE (July 19) is devoted to the Site of Stuart's Grand Review, and the Battle of Brandy Station
DAY TWO (July 20): The Battles of Aldie, Middleburg,
and Upperville, Virginia

DAY THREE (July 21): Stuart's Ride below the Potomac River;  Rector's Crossroad to the Potomac River
DAY FOUR (July 22): Check out of Leesburg Hotel (for those staying there): Rowsers Ford to Hanover, Pennsylvania. Overnight in Gettysburg (lodging for this night is included in your registration).
DAY FIVE (July 23): we'll check out of our Gettysburg Hotel, then cover Hanover to York, Dover, Carlisle and Gettysburg. After thoroughly exploring the fighting at East Cavalry Field, we'll save time for a quick circuit of the Gettysburg battlefield, and make a brief stop at the Visitor Center and museum before returning to our Leesburg hotel.
